USING TUNEPREPPER™

Using TunePrepper's Attribute Editor

On the left side in TunePrepper, just beneath the "Selection Stage" track list, is TunePrepper's Attribute Editor, which lets you add important information to the attributes of the tracks you will be ripping from CD. If you'll be using the audio files in the TuneTracker System™, be certain not to miss the opportunity now to include rich attribute information for each cut. That information will be of great benefit to you when you start creating your station's format and playlists.

Make Bulk Changes First

Often, all the tracks being ripped from a CD have at least one thing in common, such as their Album name, Artist name, Genre (style of music), and in some cases, Comment, depending on how you use the Comment attribute. So it's advisable to make the changes that affect more than one track first, before fine-tuning individual tracks.

Making bulk changes is a big time saver!

  1.   In the "Selection Stage" window pane, select all the tracks by doing CTRL-A or right-clicking on any of them and choosing "Select All." The tracks will all be darkened, to show they are selected. You can de-select specific tracks by holding down the SHIFT key and clicking on individual tracks you do not want included in the changes you are about to make.
  2.   Type information into any of the text boxes where you want to make the same change to all selected tracks.
  3.   Click "Apply." The changes you've made will be applied to all the tracks you've selected.
Note that if some of the tracks already have attribute information in them, and that information is track-specific (such as the song's Title), those attribute text boxes are greyed-out and not available, to protect against accidentally giving all the songs the same Title, for example. This protection can be overridden, however, if you're certain you want to do it for a unique reason. Just hold down the SHIFT key and click on the greyed-out text box. The text box will turn white and be editable and changeable.

Next, Adjust Individual Tracks

  1.   Click on a single track in the "Selection Stage" window pane.
  2.   Type-in any information that is unique to that track's attributes.
  3.   No need to click Apply! As soon as you're done adding attribute information to the track, just click on the next track to select it and edit its contents, etc., until all the tracks have been edited to your liking.

Not Set in Stone

If you make a mistake, or change your mind, it's good to know none of the information you're adding/changing is being set in concrete. You can easily revise your changes as much as you like until they're just the way you want them.

Even after you've ripped and encoded your files, you're still in complete control. You can edit the files' attributes manually in BeOS/BeOS, or with the help of Army Knife TTE (included in the TuneTracker System™) changing any or all of the attribute information track-by-track, or in bulk.
