BASIC AND ADVANCED SETUP OPTIONS
Advanced "Encoding Stage" Setup
Getting Personal.
By tweaking one of our "factory presets" or creating your own preset, you can personalize TunePrepper's Encoding Stage to create files in the file format you desire, with precise control over every aspect of the encoding process.
Tweaking a Factory Preset
- Click the "Preset" button and select one of the existing presets.
- Click the "Edit" button.
- Type-in a name for your new, edited preset.
- Adjust the bitrate to what you like. The higher the number, the better the quality and the larger the files will be. 192 kbps is generally a good compromise between quality and file size.
- Choose whether you want stereo or mono files. Mono files are smaller in most cases. If the files you're encoding are spoken word, why take up extra space with stereo, right?
- Advanced Users: If you want to do sophisticated "command line" type tweaking, click "Switches" and type-in the particular command line switches you'd like used.*
- Click "Save" to store your personalized preset.
Creating a Preset "From Scratch"
- Click the "New" button.
- Type-in a name for the new preset you are creating.
- Choose an encoder type from the dropdown menu button.
- Click the "Bitrate" button
- Adjust the bitrate to what you like. The higher the number, the better the quality and the larger the files will be. 192 kbps is generally a good compromise between quality and file size.
- Choose whether you want stereo or mono files. Mono files are smaller in most cases.
- Advanced Users: If you want to do sophisticated "command line" type tweaking, click "Switches" and type-in the particular command line switches you'd like used.*
- Click "Save" to store your "made from scratch" preset.
* Advanced User Tip: If you want to learn all the command line switch options available for a particular encoder, type the name for that encoder in a BeOS Terminal window. Type "gogo," "lame," or "oggenc" and hit Enter. A list of switch options will be displayed, in some cases accompanied by instructions on how to bring up even more switches and advanced options.
