ONCE YOU'RE CONNECTED

Remotely Controlling From Another Computer

Once you're connected to your BeOS computer, you can control it just as though you were sitting in front of it. Mouse and keyboard behaviors are identical. You'll find that typing, dragging, dropping, clicking, double-clicking, right-clicking, even using most control key combinations, behave exactly as they would if you were sitting in front of the BeOS/Seta computer. That includes running programs, performing operating system functions, even rebooting the computer.

The only noticable difference will be speed. The faster your network connection, the faster your screens will "refresh" to show you the movements, keystrokes, and actions you have taken. See Optimizing for Speed for some hints on how to make those refreshes as snappy and responsive as possible.

When You're Done

When you're done with your remote session, there are four ways to terminate the connection.
  1. Bring up the TT Anywhere window and click the close button in its yellow tab at the top (upper left corner of yellow tab). This approach completely closes the TT Anywhere interface, making it no longer accessible. Do this only if you are sure you won't need to log back in.
  2. Simply close your VNC client. This just closes your local connection, but leaves TuneTracker Anywhere running and active on your BeOS computer.
  3. Remotely reboot your BeOS computer. The connection will be lost immediately. Access will be available again for a new login once the BeOS computer is rebooted, providing you had set up TT Anywhere to auto-start on reboot.
  4. Bring up the TT Anywhere window and click the Stop button. This approach leaves TT Anywhere running but disables it. You'll be immediately disconnected.
